Canberra Brown Owls 18 April - Yo Yo Magic!

Yoyos

On Sunday April 18 we'll be learning how to make yo yos! These little things of beauty and fun are perfect for appliqueing on your skirt, making quilts, making hairbands, necklaces ... anything! I have been making lots of them lately, and they are so addictive!

We'll be using the Clover Yo Yo Makers. You can often pick these up at Spotlight, but I'm also going to do an order over here to save on postage. Just let me know which Clover Yo Yo Maker you would like by noon Tuesday 6 April, and I'll order it for you and you can pay me at our meeting. You can order more than one if you like (I know I will!). If we all pick something different, we can hopefully have a really good play at Brown Owls. Just bring along your fabric, needles and scissors. We will provide you with strong hand quilting thread to make your yo yos with.

Brown Owls meets from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm at Downer Community Centre. Bring along $6 for room hire, a small plate of something for afternoon tea (optional!) and your money for your yo yo maker (I'll let you know how much beforehand).

As always, please RSVP below to make the lives of your prefects easier when it comes to setting up tables and chairs.

Our meeting dates for 2010 are:

April 18 - Sunday
May 29 - Saturday
June 19 - Saturday
July 25 - Sunday
August 22 - Sunday
September 19 - Sunday
October 24 - Sunday
November 21 - Sunday
December 12 - Saturday

Yarraville BYO change in details

Just a couple of changes and updates to the meet on Monday the 29th of March.

The venue has been confirmed and we are meeting at the brand spanking new community centre
http://www.ycc.net.au/

Due to the new security system and the various gremlins infecting it, the times have to change otherwise we might be sleeping over. So it will start a 6.30 and end at 9.30.

Also the centre is nut free, so whatever plate you bring, make is sans nuts.

Thanks

Becca

Our next Downer meeting will be 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm Sunday 21 March.

Eggwarmers
Bunny!
Chickies!

Gnomes!

Or you can make the bunny egg cosy in the photo up above - you'll need to bring 20 x 20 cm wool or felt or old blankets for the body, some fabric for the inner ears, some fabric for binding, and buttons, floss, scissors, needles and thread! Also Sew Hip Issue 4 if you have it - otherwise we have our copy you can refer to.

Launceston Brown Owls - Knit 1 Purl 1

Hi Launceston Brown Owls,

Thanks to Rachael we have a new location! Next meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd March at 7.30pm at Swamp Cafe, Invermay Road, Invermay. (Corner of Mayne Street and Invermay Road). We're having a bit of an autumn knit, so bring along your needles and wool and lets start crafting. I'm sure there is enough knitters in the group to help new beginners so if thats you, bring along a pair of medium size needles (such as around 6mm), a ball of 8 ply wool and we'll teach you some basics such as casting on, casting off and plain stitch. As always if knitting is not your thing, BYO own project. So if you can, bring a plate to share, RSVP by leaving a comment below and we'll see you there!

Lastly, a reminder, if anyone is interested in selling any handmade items at the Clarence Point Market on Good Friday, please bring them along next meeting for Joan's table. As long as they are pre-priced and you chuck in a couple of bucks for the table cost, Joan will sell them on your behalf and give you your booty money (and return any unsold goods) the following Brown Owls. Good opportunity to try out selling a few things without any risk and who knows? You might make a buck or six!

See you soon!
Eve, Georgia and Gemma
