Brisbane: Rubber Stamp Making

I don't know about all of you but I've been dying to make my own rubber stamps for a long time so I'm super excited about this meet up!

Date: Saturday 6 October 2012

Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm

Venue: Toowong Library, Toowong Village Shopping Centre, 9 Sherwood Road, Toowong

What to bring:
Eraser: any type of standard eraser will be fine as long as it's the size you want your stamp to be. If you're looking for a larger size Eckersleys in the city sells rubber sheets for printing which you can cut down to size. If you have problems finding something suitable let us know.
Stamp pads if you have any, we will have some on the day but eventually you'll want your own anyway so you can use your stamp at home
Xacto or stanley knife
Carving tools (the type used for sculpting and lino printing, the one with the V shape specifically)
Cutting mat if you have one
Paper for stamping onto


We will have a limited supply of stanley knives and carving tools available on the day.

Brisbane: Felt Making with SMboutique

Provided: A felt making kit containing wool and fibres to create your own piece of flat felt and to make beads if time permits. Bubble wrap, absorbent cloth and mat, water and soap will be provided.

What to bring: If you have a sushi mat please bring it along plus two medium size old towels and a spay bottle or old clean milk bottle. You can also bring some extra fibres, yarns, fabric scraps, embroidery cotton and needles to embellish your creation.

Tea and coffee will be provided but feel free to show off your baking skills by bringing along a plate for morning tea :)

Brisbane: Crochet with Jetta's Nest!

Learn from the best as Sam from Jetta's Nest leads the next Brown Owls meet up! 

Beginners: Crochet Washcloths

Sam holds the record of being able to teach anyone to crochet in under 2 hours so if you've never picked up a crochet hook before and have always wanted to this is your chance to kick off your crochet addiction with a sweet little washcloth.

Bring a new size 4.5 or old size 7 crochet hook and some 8ply crochet cotton (Lincraft usually has a good supply of this for cheap) or yarn of choice, just make sure it's washable so you can suds it up and enjoy the end result! 

Intermediate: Your crochet questions answered!

Stuck on a project or pattern, bring it along and have your crochet questions answered!

OR you can also BYO craft to work on.

Brown Owls Melbourne 3000 - September Gathering

Howdy!

Would be lovely to see you all at our September gathering next week.

August gathering was a super triumph with several lovely owlets learning to crochet, others being wowed by learning to triangle (which is oh so very satisfying) and me being very super lucky to acquire some beautiful crochet bunting contributions for my wedding bunting.

As per usual it will be a BYO'er and welcome to all - newbies, old 'uns, regulars, not so regulars, never been before'ers, would like to go but always been a bit nervous to'ers, novices, experts etc etc.

I'll be crochet bunting again this meet - I've now got 38 triangles with about 20 more needed to finish off the bunting, a few super friends have suggested that they have a few more triangles to donate, so I reckon there will nearly be enough - hooray.

They now look super neat and gorgeous:



Our gathering is on a thursday this month, not a tuesday, for all those lovely peeps (you know who you are!) who can't make it on a tuesday.

Canberra Brown Owls - September BYO meet

Hello lovely Owls,

Its that time already - our next meet in coming up on Sunday 16 September.

This month we're keeping it simple and giving you the chance to have a little spring clean of those WiPs - bring along anything you're working on! It might be crochet, paper peicing, beading, knitting, embroidery...whatever takes your fancy. BYO craft and relax for a chat and a cuppa.

Southside Brown Owls Thursday 13th September

So, with only 2 weeks to go until my third bub is born, there’s no slowing me down! It’s Brown Owls time again!

We’re keeping it simple this month – a BYO project and a chat with a lovely cuppa. So be it quilting, crochet, a little knitting, decoupage or embroidery, bring it along and have a fun night in:) If I get a chance to get the supplies, I might try my hand at this tutorial and make these cute magnets!


Date: Thursday 13th September

Time: 7:30pm onwards

Venue: Frankie and Swiss, Ground Floor, 199 Toorak Road, South Yarra. It’s the building on the corner of Toorak and Claremont Street. Right on the #8 tram or a 2 second walk from South Yarra station. Preston Brown Owls September Meeting



Dearest Preston Brown Owls,

It is cafe month and this month we will trying out a different cafe, just up the road from our usual haunt.  Come along and try out the new space.  It is a bit bigger which is handy because we are too!

Bring along any hand held work, embroidery, quilting, knitting or crochet - I would love to see how the granny squares are coming along, all you lovelies who joined us for Learn to Crochet.
