MITCHAM BROWN OWLS

Hi there Owlies,

Congratulations to Cheryl Hutchins who has had a beautiful baby boy!!

Flushed with success at our last yarn bombingI have made some vine so we can decorate the tree next to the one we bombed, which is now referred to as the bride.
Gallery One put images of the bride on their facebook page and received over three hundred hits!

I will bring all we need for yarn bombing, if you would like to join in, other wise, bring along your own work, and anything you might have finished so we can all enjoy your work.

Brisbane: Spring Weaving Session 1


Spring Basket Weaving Workshops, Brisbane

It's finally here! Brisbane Brown Owls, edward & lilly and The Craft Nest are joining forces to bring you three basket weaving sessions over Spring. Each session will cover a different type of basket weaving stitch using upcycled textiles and materials.

The first session is Saturday 27 September, 1-5pm and will cover exposed core button hole stitch (pictured above and below).

All sessions will be held at The Craft Nest at 30 Fallon Cottage, Fallon Street, Everton Park. The cost for each session is $50 and includes afternoon tea. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials to suit their style however there will also be extra materials available free of charge for you to experiment with. You can book in to just one session or all three, the sessions are not consecutive (each is a stand alone workshop).

Melbourne Owls: September Meet

Hello Ladies!

We are on again on Tuesday 23rd September at the lovely Madame Brussels! Come down and have a chicken sandwich and get your craft on :o)

No formal activities - think this group will for ever be a BYO project group - seems to be what people like best!

Brisbane: Rag Rugs


Due to popular demand rag rugs are back!

Learn the easy and fun 'toothbrush' technique of knotting, upcycle your old and unwanted fabric into a fabulous rug or a little basket or bowl! The meet up will cover preparing your fabric to make the rug, the basic knotting technique and a few tips for creating a nice flat circle or a bowl shape.

Southside Owls ~ Thursday 11th September ~ UFOs at Miss Jackson

Hello crafty ladies!!

The sun is shining, spring is in the air! And that means it's a good time to clear things out for a fresh start.

So it's UFO time (Unfinished Objects)!!




Come along and join us on Thursday night! Bring along a project you've been meaning to finish, and get your to do list ready to tick it off!!
There will of course still be plenty of chatting, and baked treat eating, and tea drinking.

We are a friendly bunch, we have lovely regulars and always new comers, so feel free to pop along if you’ve never been before, but have wanted to. All welcome!!

Brisbane: MAD Craft Party: Weave it to me!


Presented by Makers and Designers Australia and Brisbane Brown Owls, MAD Craft Party is a Friday evening crafting session, allowing you to wind down from the week with some great company, a drink and nibbles and learning or developing a creative skill.  Come and create woven wall art that you will be able to proudly hang in your home or give as gift. 



It doesn't matter if you've never crafted before...we'll have people to help you get started and tutorials and ideas for all levels.

Places cost $50 per person which will include:
A beautiful loom from Simplicity Looms (value of $50) plus accessories for you to take home after the MAD Craft Party
yarn and other materials for weaving

We will be also showcasing the wares of some of the members of the Makers and Designers Australia Etsy team on the night and their makers and designers will be on hand for you to ask questions about their processes for creating.

Brisbane: Crochet Flowers 5 Ways


Rebecca and Michelle are teaming up to teach five different styles of crochet flowers and a leafy garland, suitable for absolute beginners through to more advanced crocheters.

Crochet flowers can be made into gorgeous accessories for adults and children or used to decorate home furnishings, wearables, anything you like! They also make sweet gift toppers.

Absolute beginners are welcome!
