Brisbane: Craft to support the Leukaemia Foundation

For those of you who have been to a recent meet up you would know that over the course of the next month we will be working with one of our lovely Brown Owls members Lara on crafting beautiful items to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation, specifically for the Myleoproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) trust fund within the Research Trust of the Foundation, an important area of research on a rare group of diseases.

You can help out by coming along to a meet up in the next month to make beautiful crafty things or to donate pre-loved books and handmade items for a Mother's Day market stall to help raise money. Read on for all of the details!

How YOU can help while learning new crafty skills!

1. MAKE STUFF AT A MEET UP OR AT HOME
We have a number of crafting bees and meet ups coming up in the next month where we will be learning new creative skills to make stuff to sell on the market stall. Scroll down and read on for all of the details and make sure you book in!

2. DONATE STUFF
Donate handmade goods and pre-loved books for us to sell on the market stall to help raise money. You can also donate craft materials to use at meet ups to make things to sell on the stall.

3. BUY A RAFFLE TICKET
Win a huge hamper of treats! Raffle tickets will be available for sale at each meet up and only cost $1 each!

4. VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
Help out at a meet up or more importantly on the market day (26 April at The Gap Farmers Market).

All money raised from the market stall and raffle are split 50/50 between the Myleoproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) trust fund within the Research Trust of the Leukaemia Foundation and the University of Queensland Diamantina Institue (UQDI) of research.

If there is any way you can help out please email brisbanebrownowls@gmail.com.

Sunshine Coast Brown Owls

Hello Everyone,

Due to our extreme cyclone Maria weather, our February meeting was canceled for safety reasons.

Our March meeting has just been arranged.

We are going to try our hand at Wire Baskets.

21st March, 2015
10:00am
A Little Creative Studio
6 Taylor Ave, Golden Beach, QLD 4551

:Cost:
$4.00 for a bag of recycled wire
$5.00 for the class cost

Please also bring Gardening gloves, some eye protection if you like and some pairs of wire cutting pliers if you have them - more than one pair if possible. Markers if you want it to be neat. If you want a different look or have wire to hand, bring that along instead - as long as it's strong enough to support itself (you can twist wire together to make a thicker strand) and is soft enough to bend it by hand with a minor assist from pliers for tight bends. Some thinner wire can be great for accents or variety in the weave. Glass beads (make sure they fit on the wire) can be nice too. There are some beads left over from another class, and you are more than welcome to use these, although they might not fit the gauge of your wire.

We welcome everyone at our meeting, even if you are not wishing to work of the selected craft, but are bringing your own. Don't forget to mark yourself as attending on our Facebook page.

See you there!

Christine
