Sunday Afternoon Coffee and Craft

Time to get out and about on a Sunday afternoon and craft it up in the chilled coffee house of Edmonds and Greer...

So get out your crafty bag and head down for a relaxing afternoon on

Sunday the 19th September 2010 from 1pm - 4pm

drop in anytime....the kitchen closes at 2.30pm but there is coffee and selected food available till 4pm.

If you fancy joining me is some crafty fun then come along to Brown owls, Yarraville.  Everyone is welcome, no membership needed, just rock up, have fun then go home! Bring whatever you are working on, books, exciting finds anything you like!

Time: 7pm-9.30

Place: Yarraville community centre.  We are in the lovely building on Francis St.

Cost: $3, plus change if you want a cuppa and cakes if you want to be my BFF

Hello there,

We have our next Saturday afternoon meeting coming up and we are going to tackle UFO's again. These are all those Un Finished Objects hidden around your house. Bring them along and see if we can finish them, or at least, get a bit further along.

We will also have learn to knit and crochet of course.

When: Saturday 28th August 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Cost; $4. room hire $10. Once of Joining fee.

What's on: BYO craft! Something portable and cafe suitable. We'll be on hand to help out with any crochet, knitty or embroidery questions if we can or just bring along a little something that you're working on at the moment.

Canberra - August BYO crafternoon!

Hi Canberra Owls!

Our August meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, August 22 (eeek already!) at 1:30pm. This month we'll be having a BYO crafternoon!
Bring along whatever you'd like to work on - maybe something you've started at another meeting and not quite finished up, or something you think might be fun for us all to try at a future meeting!



We'll be happy to help out if anyone wants a hand with knitting, crochet or simple embroidery - or if there's something else we've tried before that you'd like some help with then just let us know in the comments and we'll try to come prepared!



Besides your craft of choice, and any show & tell you'd like to share, please bring along $6 for room hire and a plate of crafternoon tea to share, if you'd like!

While we're speaking of Canberra Brown Owls meetings, thanks to two of our lovely owls we are hoping to try our hands at Gocco printing at a future meeting (possibly 19 September). As this requires a little more planning than other crafts we've tried, it would be excellent if you could have a think about whether you'd be interested in having a go - we'd like to get numbers as soon as possible so we can order the bits and pieces we need in advance.

Kits for anyone wanting to make their own Gocco prints would be about $15 - this would cover the costs of bulbs and one screen each (which is enough to print one design on either fabric or paper) From one inked screen you get about 4-5 decent post-card sized prints.

If you'd like to know more about Gocco there is plenty of info around on the internet - including a nice overview here, and you can check out some of the prints Jo and Michelle made on Michelle's blog.

Brown Owls Launceston - Uthando Project

Hi All,

Our next meeting will be at the beautiful Design Centre, Tamar Street, 7.30 till 9.30 on Thursday 2 September. We will be making dolls for the wonderful Uthando Project.

The Madison Hotel is undergoing renovations in August, so Yarn in the Pub is moving days and venues.

Bringing Back the Favourites @ Adelaide Owls

For our next meeting we've decided to bring back 2 favourites! Hand Stitched Applique and Felt Beads.

When: Wed 11th Aug
Time: 7-9:30pm
Where: Box Factory - Adelaide Community Centre, 59 Regent St South Adelaide
Cost: $2 donation to the Box Factory
Numbers: We have room for 25 Owls - the first 25 to RSVP are IN! Please include what activity you would like to do in your RSVP

Hand Stitched Applique - original meeting here

We will be finishing off the stitching and then making them in to lavender cushions.

For the hand stitched applique please bring:

• Your kit from the original meeting (If you don't have a kit from the original meeting and can't bare to miss out please email us and we will see if we can find a few spares.
• Fabric (the same size as the calico piece).
• Matching thread
• Cotton
• Scissors

We will supply stuffing and lavender

Felt Beads - original meeting here

For the felting you'll need to bring:

• $3 for supplies (this will cover enough roving for 3 beads)
• a bar of soap
• a towel
• a plastic container (about the size of an ice-cream container)
• a metal or wooden skewer (metal is best but wood is fine too)

Hi There,

Its time for our next Tuesday night meeting, and we are having a "UFO" craft night.

"UFO" is Un Finished Ojects, and I'm sure we all have a few of them around, so lets bring them along and see if we can get a bit further along or better yet - Finish them!

There will be learn to knit and crochet available too, so we hope to see you there!

We have made a date for our OP Shop tour too. For any one who is interested in coming along, please meet at 10 am at Gallery One at Mitcham, on Wednesday the 1st of September. Those of you who are able to provide transport for others, or if you need transport, please let me know and be prepared for a day of fun and interesting purchases.

If you could let me know if you are coming, I can have an idea of whether we need to make a booking some where for lunch.
