The Brisbane Brown Owls Double Banger!

RSVP now for the next Brisbane Brown Owls meet up, your choice of crochet or embroidery!

Date: Saturday 14 May 2011

Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm

Venue: New Farm Library Meeting Room,  135 Sydney Street, New Farm

CROCHET

Crochet mastermind Sam will be leading the group again! For those who came last month bring along your washcloth, granny square or whatever you were working on for some more advice or to move on to something more challenging.

If you're new to crochet and couldn't make it last month this is your opportunity to learn the basics by starting on a crochet washcloth. Bring a new size 4.5 or old size 7 crochet hook and some 8ply crochet cotton (Lincraft usually has a good supply of this for cheap) or yarn of choice, just make sure it's washable so you can suds it up and enjoy the end result! We will have a limited supply of crochet hooks and yarn available too.

EMBROIDERY

Rebecca will be leading the Embroidery Project this month with some very cool embroidery patterns,  perfect for any level of crafter. You can also bring along your own pattern or image to embroider.

Bring an item or piece of fabric you would like to embroider for example a tea towel, hankie, pillow case, fabric etc. Patterns, thread, scissors, etc will be provided. We will have some hoops available but if you have your own bring it along.

Please leave a comment to let us know if you would like to do crochet or embroidery.

OR BYO craft to work on.

Tea and coffee provided. Feel free to show off your baking skills by bringing a plate for morning tea :)

Please RSVP by leaving a comment on this post by this Thursday 12 May or email brisbanebrownowls@gmail.com.

Hi Tracy, yep you can bring any fabric, lighter colours are generally easier for transferring patterns.

Count me in, please. I'd like help on how to sew crochet squares together without them looking like keloid scars. I'll probably also bring along an embroidery UFO.Is it okay to swing both ways?

I'd like to come and do crochet, if there's still room. I haven't been to Brown Owls since 2009 so I'm a bit behind!
