Brown Owls Melbourne 3000, Movember in December pics

Well, didnt we have a super night! Last tuesday, 13th Dec, the Brown Owls Melbourne 3000 group caught up for a fabulous 'Movember in December' fundraiser.

We had a super raffle and some super winners:
Kate was the fine winner of a Madame Brussesls gift voucher for a Garden Party for two.
Gina won a copy of Pip's lovely book: Make Hey While the Sun Shines
Nadia was thrilled to take home a beautiful teahouse brooch and accessories, kindly donated by Tess.
Initially, I (thats me, Sue) won the Crafting Health gift voucher for a one hour luxurious massage, but given I was the one donating this prize (what are the chances of that!) I re-donated it and Kim, a Madame Brussels patron, was the very excited winner. All up we raised $240 - weyhey! - now donated to our official Movember page, which you can find here.

Thank you very very much to all those involved - prize donaters and attendees alike.

Brown Owls Sydney - January Meeting

We're having a wee excursion out to Cockatoo Island for the first meeting of 2012. 

When:  Saturday January 21, 2012

           Approximately 2-5PM 

Where: Cockatoo Island Bar

We will be taking our handcrafts (think knitting, crochet, embroidery, etc) and heading over to the Island Bar. 

There is a ferry from Circular Quay that leaves at 1:52PM and gets to the island at 2:13PM. We will be meeting up at Circular Quay to catch the ferry across together if you would like to do that. 

Go here if you want to see what time the ferries come and go to and from the Island. 

Cross your fingers for fine weather!

Hobart Brown Owls - Last meet for 2011

What a lovely few months the Hobart Brown Owls have had getting to know each other! Our November meet was just lovely. Liz brought her sewing machine along this time and was quietly productive while Chloe quilted, Sel sewed that gorgeous owl and the rest of us knitted. And drank tea. And talked. Lots. Thanks for coming everyone! It was so lovely... This Saturday we'll meet again. A little sooner than usual, but We figured we could squeeze one more owly meet in, surely! I'm really looking forward to some new projects next year, possibly even collaborative... Did someone say quilt? 


Where: The little cottage in the playground, Batchelor Way, Taroona. 

When: 1.30-4.30pm - THIS SATURDAY - 10/12/2011

Here's what is supplied: A kettle, tea, milk, honey and sugar... Here's what you need to bring: Something crafty to work on and maybe a plate of afternoon tea to share? Only if you feel like it...  We'll need a contribution of $2, to cover venue hire.  Children are welcome, so long as they don't hinder the creative crafty time of other members. There is ample playground space for them to wander safely :)  If you're looking for something to work on, perhaps you'd like to make a christmas decoration or two? I'll be needle felting a couple of different things and will have some basic patterns you could try. Bring along some felt, buttons, fleece, needles, thread... or anything   you have lying around! Canberra Brown Owls Christmas break up

The crafting at Brown Owls has finished for the year, but why don't you come along for a drink and some afternoon tea on Sunday. Bring some crafting to do too, if you like.

Geelong Brown Owls - Last Meet for 2011

Our next meeting of the Geelong Brown Owls will be our last for this year as we'll break for the holiday craziness & resume next year.

We'll be at the Vines road community centre; 49 Vines Road, Hamlyn Heights. Enter through the automatic doors, turn left towards reception and they will point you to the right room.

As it's certainly time to get into the Christmas Spirit, I thought a little Kris Kringle would be fun - bring along a little handmade Christmas decoration, wrapped up, and we'll lucky dip them amongst those who have made one.

If you don't have time or just don't want to make an ornament, you are still more than welcome to come along!

What to bring:

-$2 donation to cover room hire (if we have less than 15 people
coming, we may need to pitch in an extra dollar, I'll keep you posted)

-a small snack to share ( if you want to!), we will also have access to a tea and coffee station

-your name badge if you have one

-a project you are working on, or, if you are looking for inspiration, I'll have an easy pattern for a mug cosy and/or some crocheted flowers.

You Will Need:

* a ball of 8ply wool (or bits & pieces...)
* a 4mm crochet hook
* a button & a yarn needle (for mug cosy only)
