Melbourne :: Brown Owls Picnic :: POSTPONED :: This Sunday

Hi owly peeps,

Just dropping by to let you know that the final Owly picnic will not be on this weekend. There weren't many RSVPs anyway. I can't attend, unfortunately, but hopefully we can reschedule this event - and maybe we'll get a few more takers too!

If you have any queries - please send me an email via the Mike's blog.

xx Pip

If you haven’t checked Meet me at Mikes this week (thought we are sure you all have!) you really should because it’s a happy place this week, celebrating 3 years of blogging creative things to inspire us all.

Thanks Pip for being such a clever craft girl – without you our little group wouldn’t exist! X

PS – this will be our last meeting for the year. Brown Owls will be back on the 13th of Jan, refreshed and ready for 2010.

Brisbane Brown Owls - How do YUDU!!

(the amazing YUDU machine)

The Brisbane Brown Owls spent another Sunday crafting away in our sweet, sunny nest. This Sunday we were lucky enough to get to try out the fabulous, new YUDU machine. Big thanks to Katy for carting not only the machine but vinyl, inks, screens, fabric, cards and lot and lots of other bits and pieces in for us to try.

(getting ready to print)

We had a crafty swap which was lots of fun too and ate lots of yummy treats!

Sunday was our last meet for 2009. Thanks to everyone who's come along this year and made it such a fun group and a special thanks goes to our craftin' Prefect, Rebecca for organising our crafty nest every month!!

Canberra Brown Owls - Appliquing in November

string of hearts, originally uploaded by jude hill.

Hi Canberra Brown Owls!

Our next meeting is on Sunday 22 November at Downer Community Centre, from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.

Michelle is going to teach us all to applique two ways - blanket stitch and needleturn with freezer paper! We'll be learning on scrap pieces of fabric, mainly because it's the easiest way to learn. Once you're mastered the techniques, you can applique on and with anything you like - skirts, tea towels, bags - you name it!

Kits will be provided on the day free of charge and they will include the sticky papers we need, fabric, thread, floss and needles. Just bring along some sharp pins, a pencil and your scissors, and we'll be right to go!

Don't forget your $6 for the room hire and bring something to share for afternoon tea if you like. Tea and coffee are provided, as usual.

This is the last formal meeting for the year - but at the meeting we will be discussing where and when to have our Christmas gathering in December, so come along.

Don't forget to RSVP so we know how many chairs and tables to put out! See you all then!

Launceston Owls Get Christmassy!

Bring along a Christmas project - decorations, wrapping paper printing, cards, toy making, other gifts you are making, whatever you fancy.

Monday 30th November  7.30pm at Seworld, 88 Elizabeth Street.

RSVP by leaving a comment below.

Sydney Brown Owl meeting This Thursday - Softie for Mirabel making

Hello Owls,
Our next owl meeting is this Thursday at the Centrehouse in Lane Cove.

We are going to try and make some softies for Mirabel which we will either send to Melbourne to join with all the softie loveliness at Meet Me at Mikes or we will give them to Mirabel in Sydney to help local children.

Either way Mirabel is a really worthy cause and anything we can contribute to them is fantastic.

Amy has put on the sydney google group a list of the kinds of things that we could bring along on Thursday.

I am going to bring along presewn sofites that need stuffing and handsewing, maybe some people will be crocheting?

Please let us know in the comments if you are going to be joining in the fun - don't forget to bring a mug for tea or coffee.

Sorry about that.

We will email all the members that have left a comment so that they know.

Sydney Owls: Email Group

Hello lovely Sydney Owls.

Are you on our email distribution list??

We have had a Google group and email distribution list set up for a while now but I have a feeling there are a few of you that aren’t on this email list.

If you attend the meetings and would like to be included on the email list, please send me a request via an email to honidesign @ gmail.com (without the spaces). Please include your name and your blog URL if you have one.

The email list and Google group is used for communications between the Sydney Owls, for general information such as upcoming market details, hints, tips, sales, sewing shop locations and more.

Also, we are trying to organise a Christmas catch up and present swap, and want to make sure all our regular attendees are included!
