Hobart Brown Owls - June Meeting

Hobart Brown Owls had a slightly more owl-ful meeting for June, thanks to some new owls and some old.

There was lots of yarn work:

Jaci is knitting three scarves (one for each of her two year old triplets..!) and left-handed Lis is learning to crochet:

I finished a crochet owl (but forgot the pipe cleaners to make his feet) and continued with the final sleeve of Marcus' jumper, which I started a while back at a different Brown Owls meeting:

And Virginia amazed us with her commitment; reaching hexagon 102 of about 750 in a hand sewn quilt for her little boy:

We ended up with 1 finished (and gorgeous) and two nearly finished owls; and are looking forward to more next time - or maybe a different theme? 

Hobart Brown Owls - Last meet for 2011

What a lovely few months the Hobart Brown Owls have had getting to know each other! Our November meet was just lovely. Liz brought her sewing machine along this time and was quietly productive while Chloe quilted, Sel sewed that gorgeous owl and the rest of us knitted. And drank tea. And talked. Lots. Thanks for coming everyone! It was so lovely... This Saturday we'll meet again. A little sooner than usual, but We figured we could squeeze one more owly meet in, surely! I'm really looking forward to some new projects next year, possibly even collaborative... Did someone say quilt? 


Where: The little cottage in the playground, Batchelor Way, Taroona. 

When: 1.30-4.30pm - THIS SATURDAY - 10/12/2011

Here's what is supplied: A kettle, tea, milk, honey and sugar... Here's what you need to bring: Something crafty to work on and maybe a plate of afternoon tea to share? Only if you feel like it...  We'll need a contribution of $2, to cover venue hire.  Children are welcome, so long as they don't hinder the creative crafty time of other members. There is ample playground space for them to wander safely :)  If you're looking for something to work on, perhaps you'd like to make a christmas decoration or two? I'll be needle felting a couple of different things and will have some basic patterns you could try. Bring along some felt, buttons, fleece, needles, thread... or anything   you have lying around!
