Brunswick Brown Owls Recycled Scarf Project
Thank you for the inspiration rAdelaide Brown Owls!
either from an old t-shirt, or jersey fabric.
You will need to bring a t-shirt and something to cut the t-shirt with (rotary cutters rock it, but so do sharp scissors). You can also buy about 50cm of jersey fabric but make sure it is at least twice the width of the average t-shirt.
Check these patterns for how to info if you want to have a go before the night or if you won’t be able to make it.
Shwin & Shwin Recycled Tee Scarf
Where? The Sporting Club, Weston St, Brunswick, Vic.
When? This Wednesday 13th July at 7pm
What? Bring some goodies for a scarf or a WIP / UFO
We also have a Facebook group, so please join us to be updated on any Brunswick specific stuff that is happening.
I’ll be bringing my sewing machine but if you have a cutting mat, please bring it along. If you want to print out your preferred pattern, do that too!
If you'd prefer to bring along your own project to work on then please do. We'd love to see you crafting it up with us!

Brown Owls Melbourne 3000 - last monday: some pics and words

Sorry for my tardiness! 7 sleeps since the 2nd super gathering of the Brown Owls Melbourne 3000 group and I have only just got around to putting up some pics and some words of the beautifully random eclectic chatty kindof crafty evening we shared last Monday in the glorious hospitality of the parlour room at Madame Brussels.
There was talk of coffee, of tea, of namings, of births, of historical fascinations, of health, of fancy mocktails, of many other things .... oh and a little bit of good crafty skill sharing.

This is Chloe, she learnt to crochet at our last gathering (thanks Teacher Tanya!), and now look at her, on to her next project - a lovely amigurumi bunny egg cosy - super! and the granny square she started last time - check it out now, its a granny square of goodness indeed - brilliant!:

And Kitty and her handy apple cosy - handy!

Jess and her stitching. She made her cross stitch too short - doh! Jess told of her fond memories for her no-space-bar laptop called Bernie and stories of shocking haircuts.

Linda and her scarf. Linda is a good chatter, she knows lots of very interesting and inspiring things. She also is very generous in sharing her snacks - yummo babaganoush, thanks Linda!

Anna and Gemma - slippering and faceclothing in a crochet stylee. Anna was awarded Fancy Lady Award of the night, mostly due (I believe) to her dedication to the slipper cause and subsequently wearing only one shoe for most of the evening. Gemma sported a super new haircut!

Pip and her Nanna Pop, super dooper crochet popcorn blanket. Did you know... one of Pip's books was written on a laptop without a space bar - amazing. Super new haircut too - lovely!

And..... me getting overexcited about my granny square clipboard cover - will it be done by next meet? Well.... you'll just have to come along and find out.
Thanks all so much for coming along, such a lovely group of people to spend time with and share in lots of laughing, random conversations and a bit of stitch, knit and hook.
Do come along and join in next time. It really is jolly easy and friendly and a great place for sharing and not shy inducing.
Next Gathering: Wednesday 3rd August - stay tuned for more details.

Launceston Brown Owls - Quilt for Kiva
Hi to all Launceston Crafters!
It's July Meeting Time.When: Tuesday 12 July, 7-9pm
Where: Nanna's Cafe, 7 Coulter Court, Launceston (Park outside by driving down driveway next to Toyworld off York Street, OR Park in Brisbane Street and walk through arcade)
Refreshments available for purchase.
What: We are still working on our quilt for Kiva (http://www.kiva.org/). We are going to raffle the quilt in November -December to raise money for this amazing organisation. For the quilt each Owl is asked to complete 1 x 4 inch square and 1 x 8 inch square. The squares should be in black and white with one other colour of your choice. As for each square ... You can embroider it, piece it, applique it, embellish it ... do what ever you like to it .... and then they will all be quilted together and the completed masterpiece sold, with proceeds going to a charity of our choice (TBA). Never fear if you are not a quilter and it remains as a dark art to you ... there are plenty of quilters in our group who are willing and able to lend a hand! If you would like to start on your squares ... bring them along.
Or else bring your handheld project. There are still plenty of Granny Squares going ... so if you are at a crafting loose end there are a whole army of crocheters ready to lend a hand if you want to have a whirl. All newcomers more than welcome! We are a friendly bunch! Haven't been for a while? We would love to see you.
Please RSVP in the comment section here or over at our facebook page is here
